Thanks for your comments. Other than a crooked bike dealer swapping out the original derailleur and metal valve caps (It only went in for new tires!) for sub par units in the late 1980s, the bike is mostly original.

I'm trying to figure out the year of the bike so I can track down the correct derailleur. I'd like to use this machine in as original condition as possible.
