This year was the year a bunch of carbon frames developed cracks in the frames. One giant owned by my friend andy cracked at the chain stay near the dropouts. It had a lot of miles on it, probably around 35-40k.
Trek head tube bond starting coming apart on a fairly new bike in early spring.
Another guy hit a stick and it cracked the down tube.
Another giant was replaced under warranty for integrated seat mast cracking.
The roads are really poor around here, I live In a suburb of manhattan. I'm not sure what te roads are like where you guys ride. I think as carbon starts to age and get miles, you will begin to see hear sorts of failures. I mean, it's a bike with no suspension hitting occasional holes with a person sitting in top of it. Stressed like anything else. I also am not an engineer, but I honk carbon has te potential for more catastrophic failure than any other material. You can scan over a steel or aluminum frame and look for cracks, carbon actual hides micro cracks well just by the design. Either way, up until this year we dust see too many problems with e carbon bikes, this year was different. Many are actually switching back to metal frames.
