I put over 50K miles on my Y2K Trek 5200. I even crashed it hard enough that I spent time in the hospital. The frame and fork were never a problem. I got a case of new-bike-itis and sold the 5200 a couple of years ago. It's still being ridden.
I had a steel Raleigh back in the day. After about 10 years and 30K miles I noticed some stress fractures in the top tube and never wrecked that bike very hard.
I have about 14K miles on my CF Giant Defy Advanced and no problems.
