Yep, that's how I can safely use mineral spirits to clean chains. Think I got the idea from FBinNY originally.

There isn't any need to submerge or "buzz" the clean chain to lube it, though -- rydabent was correct when he said that a clean, dry chain would wick up the lube everywhere it needs to go. Even with summer-weight chainsaw oil or Chain-L, you can observe the oil migrating to the contact area between the pins and inner plates (at the ends of the chain) within a few minutes.
