Agreed that you shouldn't buy a bike that you can't afford to replace... but if an insurance rider will cover me for crashes, theft, etc., why not get it
I'm not saying "don't get it," I'm saying "don't expect to get $4000 from your insurer if you lose your $4000 bike. It'll have a deductible, and they will not pay full market/new cost anyway.
