My last bike I had before buying my first "real" bike, the 90's KHS MTB in my sig that I got in 2006, was some old BB store bike that I got for Christmas 1992 I think, just before turning 13. "Hurricane Ridge" or some such thing, 18-speed I think. Also a 1-piece triple crank and 6-speed freewheel. But it had Shimano SIS so it was awesome! Plastic brake levers, plastic thumbie shifters, plastic pedals. The rear SIS shifter actually had a lever to change it to a friction shifter if you wanted to.

I rode that thing around the neighborhood a ton in the 90's, even rode it to Walmart a time or three before I turned 16. I took it to college one year (2002 maybe?) and used it a couple times to ride to class, but still didn't use it much at all.

It sat outside in the backyard of my current house that I purchased in 2005, until I donated it to the local bike co-op just last year. This pic is just before I took it to be donated.
