It is a nice way to start the day. For 3 years I rode two miles to the train, took that to another state and then rode 8 miles to the office 3 days/week. Saw a lot of nice sunrises in the fall, winter and spring. Got there very early in the morning so I got to leave the office early to beat the afternoon traffic. While it occasionally felt like a drag, when I started driving it was worse in many ways. Driving to that office was the only time I got into an accident. I was also surprised at how even such a short commute contributed to weight management and fitness.

Now, my ride to work is less than 2 miles. I ride part of the way with the GF, so it's still a nice way to start the day. Now if only there were more bike parking outside my building.
