Unless you're putting a lot of mileage on them, they shouldn't be affecting your hips. Running stores can be helpful but their advice all depends on the expertise of the sales people which is sometimes minimal. Look for a pair of shoes that have decent support. Put them on and run around the store or outside the store if they'll let you. Buy the ones that feels the best.
