To get to the trail from New Glarus, you’ll need to hit the road first. The first hill out of New Glarus is a real killer but it is very scenic. If you love hills, then I might recommend a route using the trail one way and the roads the other way. I see people ride the trail with 23’s and they zoom past me with reckless abandon. However, there are a few spots where she’ll need to be careful. I would suggest that you ride in front of her and warn her about such spots.

This time of year, you’ll also need to keep your eye out for black walnuts that fall on the trail. You might need a flashlight for the tunnel between New Glarus and Belleville. It’s not long but it bends a bit blocking the “light at the end of the tunnel.”
