Steel frames are great, very elegant compared to a cf frame.

But a full cf frame rides with much better absorption. A steel frame will bounce and will therefore loose stability.

With close to 50 years of riding steel frame and an incredibly skeptic of plastic frames--I had to realize how much nicer cf frames ride.

One also realizes that a lot more of one's effort goes to the wheels due to the lightness of the frame but also due to the lateral stiffness.

As for esthetics it is ultimately personal and will not make any difference when riding.
