I have a 90's Rincon and an old stripped Miyata touring frame. My plan is to move as many of the components as possible from the Rincon to the Miyata and add drops with bar end shifters. The Rincon is also practically like new, purchased for 10 bucks at a garage sale. It has Bio-Pace chainrings and 200GS components, not bad stuff (I do not have an aversion to Bio-pace like others) This rig will be for the same type of touring as the OP mentions, as well as pulling a trailer. For my light touring I ride a Soma Double Cross.
