I am inclined to agree with this. Not just because of habit. But because of personal experience. Don't buy PlanetBike lights for the rear, because they are not bright enough and a waste of batteries. After I was rear-ended in broad daylight with Planet Bike taillight set to strobe, I went and got this:

It is far brighter, and USB rechargeable.
For a headlight:
