For the example of Cervelo you mentioned it is live by the sword, die by the sword. If you market your product based on aero claims then you shouldn't use a marketing gimmick to misrepresent those claims to increase sales. I see the time saved claims as disingenuous, you may not.
How on earth are they disingenuous? They're true and supported by the laws of physics. It's not a gimmick, aero equipment works. And it works whether you are slow or fast.
I still don't understand what bothers you about Cervelo's marketing efforts and what you would do differently.
