Basically having worked in both shops and bike coops at times as Mechanic several years worth. My experiance is mechanics don't get tips unless the service you give is well and above peoples expectations. Yet a small tip of $5 would be nice for exceptional service yet a lot of shops frown upon lowly mechanics taking even small tips. Me personnaly If someone gives me a personnel tip and says this is for you I will take it and be descrete and polite and just take it with gratitude even in coop enviroment, but I never expect to get a tips.
