Also, for what it's worth, I've found the difficulty of breaking in a Brooks to be hugely exaggerated. I'm on my sixth or seventh, and while they get better in a couple of hundred miles, they were all comfortable right out of the box. I wouldn't go near one with a hammer, or with any "conditioning" product other than Proofide. Brooks charges too much for it, but you only use a dime-sized glob once a year. Do NOT soak it down weekly.
I have a B-17 on a road bike and this was my experience as well. Comfortable from the first ride, and have used only proofide on it, sparingly. I got the larger quantity proofide and I use so little that the smaller size would likely have been adequate. YMMV.
