FWIW: You can use borax or Oxiclean when washing cycling apparel. Either disinfects and deodorizes without harming the fabrics. If your stuff is really soiled or stinky, presoak in either. I've even used it to soak and de-stench cycling shoes that were stanky from multi-day wet rides; soak overnight, rinse well, let dry. Fresh as a daisy.

Don't use chlorine bleach or fabric softeners.
