I just finished re-reading
Peace Pilgrim.
It's an interesting true story of a woman who gave up all her possessions and walked around the country to spread a message of peace. She was not affiliated with any group or religion, carried no food or money, and accepted only meals and lodging when (or if) they were offered. She carried on from the early 1950's until her death about 30 years later.
The book details her experiences on the road and offers some words of wisdom from her unique perspective.
