IIRC from my work with an ofmega crank, I think the using the ISO tape Crank onr the JIS spindle results in the crank being not completly seated on th spindle, in effect giving some offset (didn't measure but maybe 2 mm?). Gregaz...didn't think of this before as I went a different direction.
On a 1985 Italian bike, I swapped the Ofmega crankset for a Campy 8-sp on the same BB (111, so I used Athena). I had no problems.
On another bike, I used an 8-sp Veloce crankset on a Suntour ISO 111mm bb. It seated well, bolted on clean and strong, and at about the 65th mile, began the herky jerky. I finished the century, and while it was still bolted securely, realized it just didn't work. Swapped a Campy BB back in, and it was fine.
Would not it be fairly simple to just get a Campy BB?
