I vote the opposite. Putting a bunch of expensive, consumable components on this will only keep you from riding it as much as you should. I have a '78 and built it to ride. For me, the magic is in the frame and its ability to take wider, supple tires. I fit 29mm Challenge Parigi Roubaix tires on mine and the ride is awesome. NR and tubulars will function just fine. They have for decades. My bet is if you set it up as a restoration, it won't get ridden that much. YMMV
