A similar thing happened we we descended Mnt Diablo the first time. The front brake failed and there was not enough brake in the back to stop the bike. I have since taken to have multiple brakes. I run disks and V brakes on the triple without a drum brake for insurance. They make a splitter which works out real well. It's nice insurance when you are going down hill over 40 mph.
