I think LAJ had a XR300 powertap wheelset built by Rob. My wife has used a psimet 270/300/WI H2 set since 2009 as her primary wheels with no issues. I used to recommend that build for the $500-$600 budget, but LAJ and valygrl both had pulsation issues at the seam. First I had heard of it, esp with it being Rob's most popular wheel.

I haven't heard of any issues with the 279s. Dude in my office loves his.
