CREEs are rock-solid. I have 6 CREE-based lights, and they're amazing, and bulletproof.
The Magicshine knockoff headlight from Amazon for <$30 is amazing bang for the buck, 400+lumens for 2-3 hrs, legitimately.

I've been seeing these kind of reviews on the CREE lights. I gotta say I agree that their quality isn't that good.
