Hey Due I mounted my blinkie the same way and place. Except I use strips of old inner tube wrapped around the stays several times. The belt clip is very secure wedged in between the strips of rubber.

As for the angle, I think No Glider is right...its not optimal, however when I want to take the road bike on the morning commute I am glad to have the blinkie as 1 of 2 rear lights.
