Maybe I shouldn't say it, but if I'm going to punish tires, I'll just get some cheap Kenda's. They're probably 4mm wider than the size stamped on the tire, don't cost much, and in my experience, flats on gravel don't have much to do with the tire, it's what you just did with the bike.
