When I did my first half marathon with the wife a few years ago, it was a cold morning. I put on a long-sleeved bicycling jersey. During the half marathon a bunch of people asked where they could get such a great jersey. I said "at any bicycle shop". They were impressed with the pockets and the front zipper.

I also noticed back then most runners wore cotton t-shirts and on the warmer runs they would be dripping with sweat. In the last few years they've finally migrated to technical materials. Cyclist are way ahead there.

Yesterday I did a century ride that started at 40° F but got up to the 70s before the end. I had those back pockets filled with a wind vest, balaclava, and long fingered gloves by the end.
