What is the actaull bike make model? Also some pics would help. As for parts most standard parts should fit considering the age, the chain and seat are standard so you can use whatever seat you like and a better quality hyperglide comaptiable chain should work fine you can pick up a KMC for about ten bucks. As for the bars a 31.8 wont fit your stem yours is most likely 26.0 you need to measure your stem clamp and get a set of bars to match. You can find bars in just about any style to fit common size older stems you just need to know what size to order buy.
