On Diablo - I thought the park rangers were overzealous in booking anyone going faster than the extremely low speed limit? I didn't want to risk a potential fine so rode the brakes the whole way down to stay under it. Loved going up though...

On Hamilton I found too much loose gravel an many apexes to be able to attack the descent. In fact I had my closest near miss in a decade after hitting a blind right hander on the ascent (one of the two short descents on the way up) coming in too hot and finding gravel on the apex. Had to straighten up to slam on the anchors. Fortunately the oncoming car was a Honda Jazz and not a truck as I missed the rear quarter panel by inches. Finished in the gravel on the opposite side eying the drop off. Way too close for comfort!

If you haven't ridden any of the suggested options, I would recommend using caution especially on the blind corners... I am not an inexperienced descender (had the fastest Strava time on the main segment descent on the Malaucene side of Mt Ventoux - now 3rd so I can descend) and Mt Hamilton was nearly my last!
