Campy crankset with Shimano cassette

Apologies since I'm sure this has been asked before, but I'm wondering how much wrath I risk from the Velominati if I use a Campy crankset with a Shimano cassette. It occurs to me that there's all kinds of mix and match between parts on some of the vintage bikes that I've come across, and that doesn't seem to have resulted in the Velominati cursing previous owners with constant flats or anything. Plus, I'll quite probably be using a SRAM chain in any case just because I like them.

The Campy crankset in question is a road triple Record from a few years ago, and the Shimano cassette will be either a 7 or 8 speed.

Any gotchas? Thanks in advance.
