The period might have been a better place to stop...

A mental health professional shouldn't judging over the Internet, unless it's on Lisa Kudrow on Web Therapy. And anyone with a mental illness shouldn't be judging anyone period, because they are nutso (I joke).

Too much judging in any case.

The mental health profession should be looked at with skepticism based on their past record. Remember all those gay people were mentally ill not too long ago, and there are still people in that profession selling their "we can fix that" program. What shifted their status out of the diagnostic manual had everything to do with a changing social environment and less to do with some changing research findings. People were given drugs because they were gay.

What's clear is we are now medicating like crazy for all manner of things. And every day I see commercials for lawyers looking to file a class action if you've been prescribed Nogayum or Payattentionol. People don't realize that many drugs weren't developed for the specific problem they are now being sold to address and are only marginally better than placebos.

My own practicing philosophy is that medication is the option of last resort. But last resorts happen. Mental and physical. It's helpful for those with that experience to share what they know.
