I forgot to mention that yesterday, on the last leg of my ride home, about 100m (100yd) before I turned right onto Copper Street, another bike commuter coming towards me turned left onto Copper Street too. Just after you turn onto this end of Copper Street, there is a tiny hill, maybe 50m/yd in total but it is rather steep. By the time I turned onto Copper Street, I saw that the commuter in front of me, in a winter jacket, work pants, hat (no helmet) with a bag slung over his shoulder, had crested the hill and looked like he had done it with ease: I dropped a gear, stood up and pedalled hard to crest the hill and the other guy was well ahead of me. After catching my breath a few hundred meters/yds down the road, I started to increase my speed to try to catch this elusive commuter. It took me about 1.5km (1mi) but as I passed him, I then noticed that he was pedalling an e-bike and realized why it was so easy for him to take the hill and lazily ride along the street.
