RD cable "eyelet" on chainstay question

Sucks to not have nomenclature. On my vintage Ciooc there is an eyelet on the chainstay that one end of the cable housing goes into, the other end goes into the RD.

I had assumed the eyelet was designed to have a stop in it as a seat for that end of the cable housing, I was wrong.

During my first test ride of this bike today I was losing the indexing on the RD and noticed the cable was working it's way through the eyelet, therefore changing the RD adjustment.

How is this to be treated on these older bikes? I have noticed in the pictures of older Italian bikes there is an unwrapped spiral housing in this position...but at this point I am clueless.

Thanks

Mike
