Before coldsetting again, I would consider getting a 130mm wheelset, since the the wheels you are using must be from a hybrid bike which are wider in both the rim and the hub. If a "normal" 8-10 speed wheelset fits, you're going to have better clearance and can probably fit the fenders you want on there as well. You can buy them all day long for under $100.
