I think they move stations as needed for construction or special events. Any chance this move was NY Marathon-related?
I doubt this is marathon related. It doesn't go over to that side of Manhattan.
On a different Citibike subject, I checked the station map yesterday at around 3:30pm and there weren't any bikes anywhere to be had in Manhattan.
