Thanks for the replies, I haven't had a chance to pull it apart yet, although I can tell you that the BB is not a modern Shimano or even a Suntour unit so maybe a Phil unit, if it is I don't have a tool to remove it & don't know if we have one at the shop. I agree that the frame doesn't look any different then some of the lower end French bikes I have around with the exception of the Canti mounts and drop out adjusters, also the drop outs are forged and not stamped steel.

I don't think it even has the right size seat post in it as the clamp is almost touching, the ears aren't damaged though so that's good. Again thanks for the replies so far & I will see if I can find out some more info as far as threading & sizes go.
