Chances are that you could fit 700x25s or maybe even 700x28s. That would help some especially if you lower the tire pressure 20 psi or so.

I have a BD Windsor Tourist bike with 700x32 tires on it that I use for the crushed limestone Katy Trail. I also use it if there's a possibility of ice or snow on the road. The 700x32 tires at 70 psi and with a little tread are better than the 700x25 smooth tires at 100 psi on my Giant Defy Advanced.

Plus I'd rather get my much cheaper BD bike all dirty and grimy than my nice CF Giant!
