Well, I rode a Rail-2-Trail conversion that was pretty new back in about 1977 in Wisconsin. The Sparta/Elroy trail. So some areas indeed were gearing up for bikes in the 70's. I noticed on their website that they now have a Daily use fee or a $20 annual bike fee for Wis Paths and trails. It was FREE back in the 70's.
