All white hoods are not alike. My old Campagnolo white hoods clean up quickly with a babywipe. For those I would be tempted to use Crest toothpaste, not the "gel" formulas. he hoods are semi porous so there is top grime and penetrated oil.

I just tried this on some old Mafacs.
They look great now and it even pulled some of the yellowing out.
