after looking at many of the named routes, and looking at crazyguyonabike's website, I have decided (for the ride to california)
East Valley To wickenburg, to parker, to 29 palms, then to beaumont, and then finally riding through the urban area all the way to santa monica!

If I take the dirt road google suggests, this will surpass the I-10 entirely, or I can choose to get on the I-10 for 7 miles till I get to Railroad Ave, a two lane road that runs along the side of the I-10.
