The way to thank veterans, in my view, is to give them the respect they deserve, the best possible medical care if they need it...a real sore subject with me....and to not create any more of them.
Or at least...fewer of them.
I've got to wonder how most folks appreciate the day set aside for this without a thanks. And while we're at it thanks to the VA volunteers who give up some of their spare time to visit disabled vets sitting in downtown hotels for a lifetime. My dad was a volunteer for 14 years and it's a good way to keep a little busy in retirement and pay back a little.
