I'd say keep it SS and find the gear that suits you for that. Otherwise if you had to, use that money you saved on the bike and invest in a Rohloff with clamp on aluminum cable stops. I've seen em, they're out there but you'd need someone that knows to tell you where. They look like the little bit that you'd use to fit Vbrakes on an older frame, all smooth and billeted with a 6mm allen bolt holding it on tight. Hell maybe the people at Rohloff could hook you up, they probably get asked such things occasionally
