I think a major difference besides the disc option, the Soma is made of Tange Prestige DB Steel Tubing verses 7005 Aluminum that the Kona offers.

I have now 6 different bikes including a Merlin, I have a Soma Double Cross Non-Disc version and it is my favorite go-to bike, hands down. Mine is self-built with M900 series XTR and H Plus Son TB14 Rims.



Since picture taken, I have added SKS fenders

I love my Merlin, but like the geo of this bike better. I've ridden it in Cities, Rails-to-Trails and light touring.
