My older brother (72) had a good but basic computer that broke and he rode without one for several weeks. He has made fun of my Garmin 800 for years, which I love. On a recent ride together, he kept asking about our pace, distance, etc. Guess what he is buying? A Garmin 800. I guess he's still retro since he's not getting the 810.

When riding with someone or in a group, I only pay attention to cadence and heart rate (I'm a heart patient). Riding solo, I play with it all...makes for a more enjoyable ride. Don't knock it until you've tried it. You can record everything, and still smell the roses.
