My comments were more about "looks" than functionality. And to me it looks more like a long-distance tourer than a commuter. (IMO, a coffee mug would have given it more commuter pathos than two bottles).
I don't drink coffee so it would be completely useless for me.
I thought about get Tri seat post mounts for 2 extra bottle, but I like my saddle bag, & rear light more.
