I just don't get it. You take a relatively simple and cheap component, make it less aerodynamic (without a bottle), less reliable, and less durable, all so you can save what amounts to four sheets of computer paper worth of weight.

If you want to save weight and pay money to do it, go with Ti bottle cages. All the reliability and durability of a wire cage, same weight and cost as a carbon cage and none of the disadvantages. Some are even made in the good ol' US of A too.
