IMO without a doubt the best instruction is by Roger Musson
Wheel Building Book The Brandt, and Schraner books make interesting support info, but start with the Musson book first. And way better than the DVD you see around as well. I have them all, but the Musson book is by far the best, and surprisingly the least expensive.
roger's book is good if you just want to build a wheel. it is not super technical so if you want to know how and why a wheel works then get the book by brandt
