Assuming you have wood floors I would just take a circular saw and cut a couple of tire width slots in the floor. One slot would do if you can live with the fact that is won't be in its normal relationship to grade but won't be quite as stable. If you have concrete or tile floors it is probably best to hire it out.
If I was to do that, my wife would have me committed.
