OK one of the guys at the Trek store did indeed end up calling a rep from SRAM or FSA or something, and there does indeed seem to be a bottom bracket with the cups switched. They are on the way. Hope it works. Ordered 2 pairs so that I don't have to go through this again if I ever need another one.
