As I said, the bikes were being scapegoated. Read the article and the arguments presented. The real issue wasn't the addition of bike lanes, but the loss of convenient street parking on their block. In this car vs. bike climate it's nicer to avoid the NIMBY issue and blame it on some sort of class warfare.
