I have a lot of mixed feelings about this one. Of course I am in favor of bike lanes. as one who doesn't own a car and rides daily. However, I do believe that homeowners should have the right to park in front of thier home, and businesses should have a right to have parking in front of thier shops. Shouldn't there be some comprimise solutions?
Giving over the public right of way to those who own adjacent property to store their private automobiles is nothing less than the privatization of the public land. The appropriate compromise, which is available in most situations, is for the property owner to supply their own parking spaces on their own land.
