Schwinn Tempo Upgrade Suggestions?

Got an '84 Schwinn Tempo off CL the other day, and the idea of component swaps/upgrades to it came up on another thread. I've never upgraded a bike before, figuring if I liked it stock I'd just leave well enough alone, but now I'm actively playing with the idea of improvements.

SO. Here's the bike, 100% stock, components as listed on the 1984 spec sheet:

Let's say you were playing with a couple of hundred bucks and were leaning toward late-70s/early-mid-80s components where possible. What would you do with it?

p.s. I picked up a Shimano 600 front derailleur today for ten bucks, so I guess my toe is already in the water.
